FAQ
I listed my property but now I want to upgrade it to a featured listing on the home page.
You can visit this page for featured upgrades to existing listings. http://www.rentforolympicgames.com/rental-listing-upgrade
What if I have my property listed elsewhere. Can I list it here also?
Yes. If you are offering your home elsewhere for rent during the 2012 Olympic Games there is no reason you cannot list it here as well.
What do I write and include in my listing?
Give people a good all round run down on your house. Let them know how many people it sleeps, what amenities and facilities it offers. Travelling distances to the games venues can also be a great addition. View other listings for examples.
How do people contact me?
Each property listing has a link to a private message box on this website. People can send you a private message only you can read. When someone sends you a message to your private message box the website sends your personal email address an email telling you that you have a new message waiting.
Just visit the website and login and you will see your private messages in the links at the top of the page. You can then reply to them via a private message reply.
How much should I rent my property for during the 2012 Olympic Games?
This can depend on how long you would like to rent it for. How big your house or apartment is.
A general rule of thumbs is what would an equivalent hotel or motel cost per night. Chances are this will be 4-7 times your normal monthly rental figure for typical long term renters. e.g. £150 per night for a studio or small flat would be reasonable. If you then let it for a full month you could get anywhere around £4500+ for the month.
If you decide a guide price, but are not sure, you can always negotiate or ask a Realtor what they recommend.
If I pay my listing fee what other charges are there?
None from us. With our small listing fee you pay it once and you're done. This lets you keep all your income and manage your own property. If you choose to engage escrow services these costs are outside the remit of this website.
Thank you - I have successfully rented out our house. How can I remove it from the website?

How do I know a property listing is legitimate?
If you are worried about arriving to find that there is no home as it was listed and you are without accommodation you can take precautions. This is not definitive fact but some food for thought.
- Search Google Maps for the address and if there is a Street View option look at it to see it matches the photos posted or emailed to you.
- Search Google for the address and see if exists - maybe you can read the number of the address on the mailbox?
- Use an escrow service like www.escrow.com to hold your money until you arrive and are happy
- Pay using PayPal to reveal the full details of both parties. This can also provide some payment protection.
- Get references from the person renting out the property
- If you know anyone in London get them to do a drive by or drop in to say Hello to verify they are indeed the people listing the property
- Never send the full amount for the full stay - agree a deposit e.g. 10-25% and give the balance on arrival.
- REMEMBER: By sending a deposit you are taking more risk than the person renting out the house.
- If you are at all suspicious, or if it looks to good to be true don't pursue the exchange.
- Do not use services like moneybookers or direct telegraph/telegram money services. These can be exploited by anyone without requiring identification or confirmation of receipt.
